Dining at Buffalo Mountain Lodge is a delicious departure from the ordinary. We have been celebrated in the local and international media for our introduction of Rocky Mountain Cuisine. The Wine Spectator, Western Living, Bon Appetit and the Calgary press have all awarded us with fine reviews.
The combination of lavish Victorian cooking from the CPR rail cars and the hearty meals prepared by Swiss and Austrian mountain guides provide the basis for our unique cuisine. Smoked, cured or roasted wild game, fresh indigenous berries, wild fruits, vegetables, mushrooms and mixed grains are artfully assembled and professionally served.
Our wine list was awarded the Wine Spectator Award of Excellance from 1995-2002 and is the proud recipient of the Best of Award of excellance in 2003 and 2004. We feature an outstanding collection of over 500 of the world’s finest wines including Canadian VQA selections.

Cilantro
With Cilantro we added the influences of our Native Indian past, local wild game and our own creativity and culinary expertise. The result is true to the spirit of California Cuisine, but more rustic and hearty than you would find in the city and completely unique. Cilantro's menu and bistro-style dining experience has been enthusiastically received by locals and tourists alike.
Architecturally the restaurants are quite different. Cilantro feels like a secluded mountain cabin. It is cosy and intimate surrounded by trees and the Buffalo Mountain Lodge cabins. It is, of course, just minutes away from Banff Avenue and the centre of the townsite.
