Ski Like a Local – CRMR Insider Tips at Mt. Norquay

There are few things in life more thrilling than skiing the light and airy powder that we have in abundance at the ski hills in the Canadian Rockies. CRMR staff know that they are incredibly lucky to be able to live near places that people spend a lifetime dreaming of skiing – Mt. Norquay, near Banff, Lake Louise Ski Resort in Lake Louise, and Sunshine Village in Banff. Our staff make the most of this proximity, and when they aren’t working, many of them are out exploring these world-class ski hills.

With a wealth of inside knowledge from years of skiing in the Rockies, we asked some of our most proficient CRMR skiers to recommend their favourite runs, best places to ski, and any other gems at Mt. Norquay.

Hopefully these tips will help you have the most memorable ski day. And for those beginner skiers, know that there are plenty of runs for you to enjoy!

Mt. Norquay, near Banff, is a favourite for many at CRMR, especially those with families or who work at Buffalo Mountain Lodge, as it’s just a short drive away from where they live and work.

Avid skier Manuelle Cote-Gravel, Sales Representative for Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts, described what she loves about the skiing at Mt. Norquay. “Mt. Norquay is a really good time when I take my friend’s kids. The atmosphere is super family-friendly and the terrain is perfect for little skiers practicing their turns.”

Mt. Norquay has a variety of trails, suitable for all types of skiers. The resort is especially enjoyable for families, and there are a variety of lift tickets and pricing for skiing, tubing and sightseeing. Mt. Norquay also offers Alberta’s longest running mountain programs for kids! Be sure to check out their ski lessons, there are a wide variety to choose from, and they are very kid-friendly.

An excellent option for those looking for something other than skiing is the Tube Park-ideal for everyone in the family! New this year are a small sliding area and a kids play area, and no previous experience required. Children four years of age and older can participate. A wonderful option for when you want to be active with the whole family.

There are so many exciting runs to discover, one day surely won’t be enough. Make a weekend or week-long trip out of it, and take advantage of Canadian Rocky Mountain Resort’s ‘Ski and Stay’ Special featuring one night accommodation and one adult tri-area lift ticket per person, which is valid at Mt. Norquay, Lake Lake Louise or Sunshine Village.
