Four Reasons to Celebrate the Holiday Season in the Rockies

With the days getting longer, there is no question that many of us are looking ahead to plans for our corporate holiday party plans. For most of us, the holiday season is about celebrating with friends and family and looking back at all our hard work and accomplishments over the past year. For companies big and small, it is a time to celebrate successes, motivate employees and prepare for the exciting things to come in the new business year.

One way that many companies celebrate the season is through the annual corporate Christmas party, which is often marked with employees dressing their best, enjoying delicious food and perhaps even enjoying a visit from Santa.

Christmas at Emerald Lake Lodge

There is no better place to celebrate the holiday season than in our beautiful, snow-filled and peaceful backyard that is the Canadian Rockies. Noted as being one of the most breathtaking backdrops in the world, the Rockies are a winter destination for worldly travellers, and the local city dwellers looking for a perfect escape.

Set among these beautiful snowy backdrops, in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, our three resorts offer guests some of the most wonderful and cozy winter experiences just shy of visiting Santa’s workshop at the North Pole.

Not only do Deer Lodge, Buffalo Mountain Lodge and Emerald Lake Lodge provide a wonderful setting for a festive celebration, they bring guests an experience that goes beyond a typical corporate holiday get-together. For those planning their holiday party, here are four ways for why celebrating with CRMR will be at the top of your nice list.

  1. Getting into the Christmas Spirit has never been so easy

Across all three lodges, we take Christmas decorating pretty seriously! For many of our guests who come to experience a white Christmas, our lodges transform into a winter wonderland filled with beautifully decorated trees, ornaments hung from every peak and festive music playing. In fact, with the help of her close friends and family Connie O’Connor, co-founder of Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts personally decorates and chooses the theme for each year – making it even more special for our guests.

With the decorations hung and Christmas spirit in the air, holiday party planners are able to cross decorating off their list before even arriving for the festivities. Party goers will enjoy the beautiful details and will be feeling holly and jolly as soon as they walk through the door for an evening of fun.

  1. A variety of spaces and party options lets you plan the perfect celebration for your needs

Anyone who has planned a party, especially one of the Christmas variety, can agree that one size does not fit all when it comes to hosting the perfect celebration. Across our three lodges, we are seasoned pros in hosting events, which is why we offer a number of different function rooms and delicious dining options for both big and small groups.

At Buffalo Mountain Lodge in Banff, our function rooms are able to accommodate anything from groups of 20, to groups of 90 depending on the style of party. Deer Lodge in Lake Louise offers an intimate setting for groups up to 16 people, or a larger space for celebrations up to 120. Alongside the shores of beautiful Emerald Lake in Field, Emerald Lake Lodge can host groups from 24 up to a full capacity of over 120.

Aside from the great spaces at the lodges, another detail that adds to the charm of your holiday party is the selection of menu items that truly embody Rocky Mountain dining and cuisine.

Whether it be enjoying cocktails in the Wine Cellar at Buffalo Mountain Lodge, catching up with colleagues in front of the grand fireplace at Deer Lodge, or sitting down for a festive meal in the President’s Room at Emerald Lake Lodge, delicious food is what truly sets the stage and makes all the difference during these special gatherings.

Planners can choose from a selection of unique and delicious hors d’oeuvres, or more hearty menu options like Bison Ribeye or Seared Salmon finished off with Fallen Chocolate Soufflé or Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Our conference coordinators at each of the lodges, as well as our corporate team, will work directly with you to choose the best space and menu options for your vision and needs in order to make it the best Christmas party yet.

  1. Beautiful accommodation adds to the holiday charm

Perhaps one of the best parts of enjoying a Christmas party out of town is being able to make a mini vacation out of it. A trip out of the city is a great way to unwind, relax and enjoy some new surroundings – especially is those surroundings are in the heart of the Rockies!

At each of the three lodges, a variety of different rooms are offered as to best suit the needs of your group. Not only are our lodges perfect for enjoying the actual party, but they are great way to feel pampered and rejuvenated. At both Emerald Lake Lodge and Buffalo Mountain Lodge, guests are able to light an in-room fire and cozy up with a glass of wine or great book.

All three lodges have outdoor hot tubs with incredible views, and even offer new dry saunas to relax those your muscles after an evening of dancing.

After waking from a restful sleep beneath your cozy down duvets, wander down to the main lodge to enjoy a delicious breakfast of hearty game hash or creamy eggs benedict.

  1. Countless winter activities to enjoy around the lodges

No matter the season, there are always numerous ways to enjoy the lodges both inside and out. One of the best things about being nestled in the heart of the Rockies is the assortment of activities that await you right outside of your door step. Whether it be a way to bond as a team before or after the Christmas party, or for work colleagues to enjoy after the festivities, winter always has something in store in the Rockies, and we invite you to savor every moment of it!

Buffalo Mountain Lodge, Banff

At Buffalo Mountain Lodge, guests are a short distance from the Town of Banff and can enjoy wonderful shopping and sightseeing in the winter season. Buffalo Mountain Lodge’s shuttle is able to take guests to the town, or surrounding areas to ensure safe and warm transportation for whatever expedition you have planned. Also close to the lodge are a number of outstanding ski hills, such as Sunshine and Mount Norquay, that are great for carving the slopes and drifting through mountains of fresh powder.

If enjoying the sights of Banff at a slower speed is more your pace, there are a number of excellent cross-country ski trails in Banff National Park, as well as ice skating, gondola and sleigh rides and even dog sled tours.

Deer Lodge, Lake Louise

At Deer Lodge, a favourite activity among our guests is taking the short five-minute stroll down to the frozen shores of Lake Louise. Depending on the time of the winter season, guests are able to skate and cross-country ski on the frozen lake, and even polish their camera skills with shots of the beautiful and iconic Victoria Glacier. In mid-January, thousands of guests from around the world enjoy the sights and sounds of the Ice Magic Festival that features beautifully carved ice structures beside the lake’s edge.

To warm up after a day playing in the snow, take a dip in the roof top hot tub that has incredible views of Lake Louise and the surrounding mountains. When you are done, cozy under the covers and enjoy a good night’s sleep.

Emerald Lake Lodge, Field BC

Emerald Lake Lodge is unlike any other winter getaway, and a must for all winter enthusiasts. Located near Field BC, our guests enjoy beauty as it was meant to be enjoyed. With limited Wi-Fi availability, guests are able to enjoy peace and tranquillity while staying at the lodge.
