Lake Louise Annual Ice Magic Festival – January 16-27, 2019

The New Year is here and what better way to celebrate than by heading to beautiful Lake Louise to take in every detail of the 2019 Ice Magic Festival. For over 25 years, this world-class event has given guests from far and wide the opportunity to get out and explore the Canadian Rockies, all while embracing the winter season. The Ice Magic Festival has attracted 30,000+ visitors each year from all around the globe and continually delights audiences of all ages with stunning artwork made completely out of ice.

To make this event even more wonderful, guests staying at Deer Lodge during this time will receive a free access wristband to the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise lakeside Competition Carving Site at all times. A full calendar with each event can be found here.

Here are some tips and insider information that will make your Ice Magic Festival experience even more magical.

  • All guests staying at the Deer Lodge between January 16-27 will receive a free wristband that will grant ALL DAY ACCESS to the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise lakeside Competition Carving Site at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. Simply ask a front desk team member for yours. (Wristbands must be worn at all times while attending this event.)
  • All other visitors to the destination are required to purchase tickets on Saturdays and Sundays between 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Deer Lodge is located a short 5-minute walk from the lodge, so guests have easy access to and from the event and can come and go at their leisure.
  • Tips for a great day: Visiting the competition carving site before 11 a.m. and after 5 p.m. on weekends is advised to avoid peak day visitation and for a more enjoyable overall experience.

**Special Deal for Banff Visitors**

All guests who book Banff accommodations during Ice Magic, January 16 – 27, 2019, will receive discounted Ice Magic ticket prices to the festival.

Tickets are only required to visit the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise lakeside Competition Carving Site during peak visitation on Saturday, January 19 and 26 and Sunday January 20 and 27 from 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. All other dates and times, the carving site is free to enter and experience the magic.

Ticket/Event information:

  • All discounted tickets must be booked online, in advance. Discounted tickets cannot be purchased at the event. Visit Ice Magic website to compare ticket prices.
  • Each ‘room’ may book up to 8 tickets at the discounted rates.
  • Shuttle busses will run both weekends from 10:30am-6pm.
  • Promo code will be provided to customers by the hotel as/when they book their accommodation for the period.
