Carolling by the fire on Christmas Eve

On the night before Christmas, guests are welcome to join the staff at Emerald Lake Lodge to do some caroling by the outdoor fire pit that overlooks the stunning and frozen Emerald Lake (weather permitting). There is a colouring contest for the children, as well as a rousing reading of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Homemade eggnog and gluhwein are served and enjoyed with the management team.

Visit with Santa on Christmas Morning

After a busy night of delivering presents to children all over the world, Santa likes to come to unwind at Emerald Lake Lodge before taking Rudolph and the other reindeer back to the North Pole. All the children receive a gift, and everyone has a chance to get their picture taken with the jolly old man himself.

Walk in a Winter Wonderland

After a delicious and decadent breakfast, spend your afternoon walking around frozen Emerald Lake or cross-country skiing on one of the many trails surrounding the lodge. Rentals for cross-country skis and snowshoes are available at The Boathouse Trading Co. located directly across the bridge from the lodge.

Later, tour the grounds or come inside the main lodge and witness Christmas magic with the festive decorations and beautiful details that will give you those holiday feels. You may be surprised to know that Emerald Lake Lodge has its very own team of Christmas elves that come together to make the lodge glitter with hundreds upon hundreds of festive decorations – a sight not to be missed.

Yoho National Park completely transforms in the winter, making it a haven for exploration that can not be done when the snow melts. Just a 10-minute drive from the Lodge sits the Natural Bridge, a popular destination waterfall in the summer, but you’ll have it all to yourself as you explore its frozen caves. Descend down to the Emerald River and walk under the pedestrian bridge that’s normally used for viewing, this is a destination you won’t want to miss!
