Relief Night Auditor

Primary Function

The Relief Night Auditor is responsible for accurately balancing all hotel revenues and ensuring guest reservations are handled efficiently and courteously. This role encompasses a combination of night auditor and guest service agent responsibilities across different shifts.

Reports to
Front Office Manager/Assistant Front Office Manager/Guest Services Supervisor
Hours
Two night auditor shifts (11pm-7am) and three guest services agent shifts (3pm-11pm or 7am-3pm).
Duties & Responsibilities

These are the duties required during the night auditor shift:

  • Balance revenues for Rooms and F&B as well as any other revenues earned in the Hotel that day.
  • Compile accurate nightly manual reports including external invoices.
  • Ensure journal is balanced.
  • Complete mid-month and month-end procedures.
  • Perform Front Office duties and other tasks as required.
  • Perform guest check-in and check-out.
  • Make telephone reservations.
  • Deal with guest concerns or complaints as they arise.
  • Provide communication to all departments re: activity during the night.
  • Ensure guest check-in and departure information is correct and accounts settled.
  • Maintain a professional and presentable.

 

These are the duties required during the guest services agent shift:

  • Perform guest check-in and check-out.
  • Provide directions, information, answer activity enquiries, and other communication as required.
  • Prepare guest accounts for check out the following day.
  • Provide support to the day and to the night audit team re: ensuring balances and accounts are in order based on the filing system that is organized in the hotel (bucket check).
  • Take reservations, provide information about packages or upcoming events in the hotel,
  • Deal with guest concerns or complaints should they arise.
  • Provide ongoing communication with night cleaners, security and maintenance staff.
  • Maintain a professional and presentable appearance.
Experience
  • Previous experience in a hotel setting preferred.
  • Previous accounting experience preferred. a good understanding of all Front Office procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting required to work with journal entries.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills.
  • Highly organized, motivated and detail oriented.
  • Computer skills including Windows applications and some proficiency with Excel. PMS system Opera (if Opera is not familiar to the individual training will be provided).
  • Work well under pressure.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and remain calm in the event of situations arising during the night/afternoon shift.
  • High School diploma required.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to endure long periods of standing, sitting, bending, and lifting (up to 50 pounds may be required).
