Emerald Lake Lodge Partners with Alberta Ski Team Athlete, Thomas Cais

At Emerald Lake Lodge, our story has always been rooted in community, adventure, and a deep connection to the Rockies. This season, we are proud to continue that legacy through a new partnership with Alberta Ski Team athlete, Thomas Cais, a young skier whose journey began just down the road in Field, British Columbia.

A PARTNERSHIP BUILT THROUGH CONNECTION

For Thomas, the mountains have always felt like home. Born in Canmore and raised in Field, he grew up surrounded by the peaks and trails of Yoho National Park with his parents and older brother. His parents are originally from France and moved to Field before he was born. His mom works for Parks Canada, while his dad ran a guiding business that helped visitors discover the beauty of the area.

“Emerald Lake has always held a special place in my life,” Thomas shares. “Every year, my family would go cross-country skiing there for the Moonlight Ski organized by the Kicking Horse Ski Club. I also remember Christmas parties being hosted at Cilantro on the Lake and sitting on Santa’s lap there when I was young. When I was 14, I started working full time at the Emerald Lake canoe rental (now The Boat House Trading Co.), and I’ve spent most of my summers there since, enjoying the scenery, meeting people from all over, and spending my days off hiking, scrambling, or camping in the area.”

A CONTINUED COMMITMENT TO YOUNG ATHLETES

This partnership follows in the footsteps of CRMR’s continued commitment to supporting local athletes, including Post Hotel & Spa’s sponsorship of Alpine Canada skier Britt Richardson, who continues to make Canada proud on the world stage. Both Thomas and Britt represent the heart of mountain culture through their dedication, humility, and deep connection to the Rockies.

“Supporting Thomas is about more than just ski racing,” says Larkin O’Connor, President of Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts. “It’s about investing in the next generation of mountain enthusiasts. The young people who grow up skiing these slopes and fall in love with the Rockies just like so many of us did. We’re proud to play even a small part in helping them chase their dreams.”

For Thomas, partnering with Emerald Lake Lodge feels like coming full circle. The same place where he learned to ski, worked his first job, and built lifelong memories is now supporting him as he races toward his goals.
