2022 Ice Magic Festival – Information for Banff & Lake Louise Guests

Please note that due to challenges relate to COVID-19, Ice Magic will not be taking place in 2022. The January 19-30 event has been cancelled. 

The New Year is here and what better way to celebrate than by heading to beautiful Lake Louise to enjoy the Ice Magic Festival from January 19-30. This fantastic Lake Louise festival attracts visitors from all over and continues to delight audiences of all ages with icy masterpieces! This year, the event will feature 8 Canadian teams participating in a 34-hour Team Carving Competition, and a One-Hour, One-Carver Speed Competition. Admission to Ice Magic is free, except between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on both Saturdays and Sundays, when tickets are required.

To make this event even more wonderful, guests staying at Deer Lodge during this time will receive a complimentary wristband for the Ice Magic Festival. Simply ask a front desk team member for yours. (Wristbands must be worn at all times while attending this event. Proof of vaccination is required)

Ways to make your Ice Magic Festival experience even more magical.  

  • Visit the competition carving site before 10 a.m. and after 5:30 p.m. on weekends to avoid peak day visitation and for a more enjoyable overall experience.
  • Dress warm! Bundling up is the best way to enjoy an outdoor winter day in Lake Louise.
